메타 블로그의 문제점과 개선방안2007년 02월 05일원문 : http://www.joinc.co.kr/modules/moniwiki/wiki.php/Site/Development/Forum/manager/MetaBlog 태그 : google 애드센스 검색엔진 올블에서 최근의 애드센스에 대한 갑론을박으로 시끄럽습니다. 지금은 좀 덜한거 같지만 말이죠. 이러한 갑론을박 자체에 짜증을 내는 블로거도 있지만, 상당히 많은 블로거분들이 메타사이트에서의 IT와 정보통신관련된 블로그들만 이슈화 되는것에 대해서 짜증을 내기도 합니다. 아래는 오늘자 올블로그의 첫페이지 화면입니다. 거의 대부분을 IT관련 그중에서도 소프트웨어와 웹관련 정보들로 채워져 있는걸 보실 수 있습니다. 그나마 오늘은 상당히 양호 하네요. 보통 인기글은 절반 가까이가 IT관련 글로 채워집니다.  블로그 자체가 개인 미디어의 성격을 가지고 있고 메타 사이트는 이러한 블로그들을 한데 모아서 분류된 정보를 제공하는 사이트이니, 메타블로그를 찾는 블로거 분들이라면 당연히 다양한 영역을 다루는 블로그글들을 찾길 원할 겁니다. 그런데 뜻하는 바와는 다르게, 온통 소프트웨어/웹서비스 얘기들만 도배되니 짜증이 나는 거겠죠. 혹은 회의를 느낀다고 해야 할려나. 그래서 어떤 블로거들은 이슈가 흐르는데로 따라다니는 따라쟁이?의 기질이 이러한 현상을 만든다고 분석을 하기도 하더군요. 여기 저기에서 애드센스 하니까.. 우하니 몰려가고, 구글이 좋다더라 하니 우.. 하고 몰려다니는 그런 거 말입니다. 하지만 저는 좀 달리 생각합니다. 우선 블로그의 사용계층에 대해서 알아봐야 할거 같은데요. 제가 알기로 전체 인터넷 사용자의 10%정도만이 블로그를 사용하고 있습니다. 그리고 이중 대부분은 블로그의 특징을 제대로 활용하지 못하고 있습니다. 그냥 확장된 게시판이나, 인터넷 일기 정도로만 활용하고 있는 수준입니다. 아마 저중에 블로그를 본격적으로 활용하는 인원은 많게 잡아도 20%가 채 되지 않으리라 생각이 됩니다. 이를테면 블로그를 제대로 사용하는 사용자는 컴퓨터와 인터넷서비스에 대한 상당한 관심혹은 지식을 가진 유저라는 겁니다. 그럼 메타블로그에 대해서 생각해 보도록 하겠습니다. 주변에 메타블로그에 대해서 알고 있는 분이 얼마나 되는지 확인해 보시기 바랍니다. 이는 들어만 봤다라는 분들이 아닌, 메타블로그의 개념과 태그 등록시키는 방법, 잘 노출되게 하기 위한 최적화 기법등에 대해서 어느정도 알고 있는 분들을 의미하는 겁니다. 거의 없을 겁니다. 메타블로그는 우리 어머니, 아버지도 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 그런 서비스가 아닙니다 - 앞으로는 쉬워지겠지만 적어도 지금까지는 그렇습니다 -. 매우 어려운 서비스입니다. 얼마나 어려운 서비스인지를 말씀드려보겠습니다. 저는 검색엔진 관련된 일을 하고 있습니다. 그것도 블로그 검색과 관련된 개발업무를 담당하고 있으며, 제가 다니는 회사는 블로그 관련 정보를 전문적으로 다루는 회사입니다. 100명 가량의 인원이 있으며, 50명 정도가 블로그 쪽에 직/간접적으로 연관되어 있습니다. 그런데 이 50명의 인원중에 메타블로그의 개념을 알고 사용하는 인원은 2-3명에 불과 합니다. 태반이 메타블로그가 있다는 것조차 모르거나 어렵풋이 그런것도 있다는 정도만 압니다. 제가 봤을적에 메타블로그를 사용하는 인원은 전체 인터넷 사용자의 0.1%도 안되는 상당히 전문가 수준의 유저들입니다. 이 0.1%의 유저들에 의해서 메타블로그의 성격이 결정되는 겁니다. 이 0.1%의 인원은 컴퓨터와 인터넷 서비스들에 대해 관심이 많고, 때문에 관련된 정보들이 첫페이지를 장식하게 되는 겁니다. 이들 블로거는 소수이기는 하지만, 메타 사이트를 이해하고 있으며 자신의 글을 상위에 노출시키기 위해서 적극적인 노력을 마다하지 않습니다. 흐름을 만드는 소수라고 할 수 있겠죠. 비교적 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 포탈의 블로그에서의 노출과 메타블로그의 노출을 보면 그 차이가 명확히 들어납니다. 하나의 블로그 스피어일 뿐인데 말입니다. 그러나 그렇다고 해서 메타블로그가 이러한 상태로 계속 운용되다가는 얼마 못가서 인기를 잃고 말겁니다. 다양한 블로그들이 노출될 수 있도록 해야 할 겁니다. 메타 블로그에 다양한 블로그들이 노출되게 하기 위해서는 다음과 같은 조건들이 만족되어야 합니다. 블로그의 대중화 현재의 메타 블로그에서 특정 영역의 문서들이 첫페이지에 노출되는 이유는 위의 이유들 때문입니다. 이러한 문제를 해결해야만 블로거들이 만족할만한 다양한 방면의 좋은 글을 제공할 수 있을 것이며, 또한 업계 선두에 설 수 있을 겁니다.
말할 필요가 없겠죠. 손쉽게 사용할 수 있는 메타블로그 역시 당연합니다. 메타블로그의 노출 알고리즘 개선 지금의 메타블로그 노출 알고리즘은 메타블로그의 특징을 제대로 알고 있는 소수가 첫페이지를 쥐락펴락 할 수 있는 구조입니다. 이는 매우 좋지 않은 구조입니다. 마치 메타태그만 알고 있는 정도로 웹사이트를 검색결과 상위 페이지에 올릴 수 있었던, 예전의 (구시대적인)검색엔진과 같은 꼴입니다. 구글에서 페이지 랭크 개념을 도입한것도 이렇게 사람에 의해서 인위적으로 노출순위가 결정되는 것을 최대한 방지하기 위함입니다. 간단하게 생각해 볼수 있는 알고리즘의 개선은 각 태그별 가중치를 달리하는 겁니다. 예를들어 애드센스의 경우 하루에 거의 수백건의 글들이 포스팅이 되는데, 이러한 글들에 대해서는 가중치를 0.1 정도로 주고, 포스팅 빈도가 낮은 음식, 여행 이런것들에 대해서는 그만큼 높은 가중치를 주는 겁니다. 이 가중치 조절을 잘하게 되면, 소외된? 주제의 좋은 내용의 블로그 글들도 그만큼 노출될 확률이 커질 겁니다. 이러한 방식의 가중치 적용은 웹문서 검색엔진에도 쓰이고 있습니다. 여러개의 문서에서 발생되는 단어는 그만큼 가중치를 낮게 주는 건데, 간단히 생각해서 the와 같은 단어는 거의 모든 문서에서 발견되지만 그만큼 중요도가 낮다고 볼 수 있겠죠. 반면 Linux와 같은 단어는 몇몇문서에서 발견됩니다. 그럼 the Linux로 문서를 검색했을 경우 Linux를 포함한 문서가 상위에 노출될 확률이 높아지게 됩니다. 이 글과 관련있는 글을 자동검색한 결과입니다 [?]
